This Saturday, November 17, 2018 11-3 will be your last chance to shop directly with Zippity Doodads and pick up your Zippity Doodads trinkets for yourself or that deserving someone on your Holiday list! You can always pop in to the Museum Shop at the Westmoreland Museum of American Art and shop their selection, too. The Museum Shop has a fresh shipment and a very nice selection just in time for the holidays...
Happy fall! Have you seen snow flurries today and thought it odd that the trees are still green this late into October? Well, the trees may be holding on to their summer colors, but this chilly weather has me deep into the comfort of warm colors. Reds, browns, golds...You know, the way the leaves should look right now?!
So a little time in the studio with the sound of the first fire in the fireplace crackling away and I am pleased with the results. I love layers in clothing and also layers in jewelry. I like the feel of these toasty elements: pearls, gold, and wood, layered warmly against skin that remembers the sun and may still have a few freckles...
I'll be showing glimpses of more pieces as I prepare for my Holiday Trunk Show...It's just Zippity Doodads and of course, Marlene's tasty pastries. We are both working on new goodies for you. See you the 17th? Details to the right ---->
I know we are thinking about fall, back to school, the end of summer.... But this heat, summer sounds, and garden bounty are keeping me solidly in the embrace of this season. I've been going to the gold metals this year and nothing transitions better to fall than gold tones...And it is magical against sun-kissed skin! I also have a thing for the saturated, lush tones of apatite. I was holding strands of apatite in my hand and scanning through my drawers of gemstones when I stumbled across a few gloriously faceted, golden citrine beads and boom! A beautiful new combination was born. This is most certainly a design that fits the category of "make one to sell, make one for me!"
I don't have to tell you that this color scheme takes me back to the Mediterranean but, it certainly does!
Come see the new designs and me at the Ligonier Country Market, Saturday, August 18, 8AM - noon
And keep watching for info about The Artful Affair, it is really going to be wonderful!
As many of you know, western Pennsylvania had heavy and rain and flooding in June and Zippity Doodads was not able to be at the Ligonier Country Market...So we are making up for it this Saturday, July 14th (Bastille Day for you Francophiles). Not only do we have designs in beautiful blues and reds to celebrate that holiday but the inspiration from my trip to Israel is still finding its way into my jewelry.
There is nothing like the subtle warm look of honey jade on lightly tanned skin...So I call the next pieces "milk and honey." Naturally, I have made one to keep and one to sell and there are no others.
There has been a lot of production and preparation in the studio and it promises to be beautiful weather, so come out and see what is new. Please refer to the map at Ligonier Country Market for my location, I am scheduled to in space 124 (facing the gravel parking lot) but stay tuned to the Zippity Doodads Facebook page for any updates.
I can't express how tickled I was to see so many familiar faces at our opening market on May 26! It was like a four-hour celebration. Zippity Doodads is back this Saturday in space #122 (check ligoniercountrymarket.com to find it on a map) and I am in the row closest to the front gravel parking lot. You can check the Ligonier Country Market "vendor 2018" tab for information about all our dates and contact info.
It has been a whirlwind since I posted last but I have been busy making some new pieces to tempt you...After a trip to California, I revived my love for those summertime vintage-retro-Cali heishi beads and whipped up some pieces including that shape, with a Zippity Doodads twist...And how could I not make an elegant matte aquamarine piece to juxtaposition? What do you think??
It finally feels like spring has arrived and Zippity Doodads has been very busy kicking off this new season. Thank you to The Westmoreland (Museum of American Art) for inviting me to showcase my work at Art on Tap, what a fun and validating way to introduce my new designs. That was followed quickly by An Artful Affair that had record turnout. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for the love and support you all showed the artists! It was a terrific day on so many levels.
The push is on to deliver new designs to The Westmoreland's Shop and prepare for The Ligonier Country Market. So much to do, so much to do! But that's OK, I work well under pressure and I am filled with inspiration.
*Note:* Zippity Doodads will not be in the same location twice at the Ligonier Country Market. Check the map on their website to find me each week.

Zippity Doodads has been busy planning and scheduling and, of course, designing.
A new year and fresh ideas! I have to give credit for this inspiration to my fellow jewelry designer Angie of La De Da...She generously did some Tucson Gem Show shopping for me. I gave her a blank slate and she returned with some really lovely stones....It was like a breath of fresh air blowing through the studio. Inspiration also came from my recent trip to Israel and more specifically, the Dead Sea. have you been? Those colors! That country!
All that has begun to take shape in these new designs....
And I promise more, much more to come.
Also, big news! Zippity Doodads is scheduled to be the Featured Artist at the April 13th "Art on Tap" at the Westmoreland Museum of American Art from 5-7PM. These events are so much fun and tickets are under $15. The ticket includes appetizers, two drink tickets, musical entertainment, access to the galleries, and me, sitting outside the Museum Shop, demonstrating how some of my favorite pieces are made. It is always a fun evening!
